Justification for our participation in the TRINO project
Our interest in promoting the area’s natural heritage, richness and variety from a birdwatching perspective, and the Association’s commitment to collaborating with the tourism industry (lodging, restaurants and other service businesses) are the primary foundations upon which ADRIMO’s participation in the TRINO Project rests.
It is necessary to continue trying to draw attention to the importance of the conservation and protection of such a diverse, fragile and rich space as “La Moraña”. Highlighting the great value of this area as a focus of attracting tourists that allows for greater development in the municipalities inside the region.
In our region we find a great wealth of birds with four different types of habitats; there are around 220 different species represented (65% of all birds observed in Castilla y León).
The majority of protected areas in the territory of La Moraña are ZEPAs (Special Protections Areas for Birds), part of a protection system that together with others, makes up the Natura 2000 ecology network.
Inside the Natura 2000 ecology network, in La Moraña we find several areas that are protected as ZEPAs that affect several municipalities and make up a significant part of the territory, 31,670.28 ha, or 19.17% of the total area.
