Justification of our participation in the TRINO project

In 2009, ADRISS, together with 23 other LAGs (Local Action Groups), signed a collaboration agreement to carry out the 2nd phase of the interterritorial cooperation project known as TRINO. The area corresponding to ADRISS, with the other areas in Castilla y León that have joined the project, bring together the reality and variety of bird life from the different bioclimatic regions (Atlantic, Mediterranean and transitional) of Spain, as well as from its various landscapes (steppe, desolate upland, peneplain, forest and mountain); this makes it possible to pool all of these resources into an offer to tourists, which TRINO tries to create and later maintain through private initiatives.

In our sierras (mountain ranges) there are several Special Protection Areas for Birds (ZEPAs, from the Spanish acronym) whose objective is the protection of birds through the conservation of their habitats; these Areas are: Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia, Candelario, Las Quilamas, and Río Alagón. Our area is also known for a similar environment: in addition to the presence of birds, visitors can enjoy our landscapes, cultural heritage and dining together some amazing birdwatching sessions, discovering the species that fly over our mountain ranges.
