ADEMA

The territory of ADEMA covers 3,393 km² and includes 49 municipalities which, with an approximate population of 15,053 inhabitants, translates into a population density of 4.44 inhabitants/km².

The landscape is dominated by two incredible river valleys formed by the Rivers Duero and Jalón, and it also has treeless plains, softly rolling barren and sown fields that break the monotony, an important Spanish juniper forest with specimens of considerable height and age, and dense and continuous patches of black pines mixed in with oak groves, all of which are environments that draw us to tourism and leisure, giving us an opportunity to participate in activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, mycology, dining, etc.

In the Natura 2000 ecology network the ZEPAs (Special Protection Areas for Birds, from the Spanish acronym) of Monteagudo de las Vicarías, Altos de Barahona and Los Páramos de Layna all stand out, as well as the Sites of Community Importance (in Spanish, LICs)of Los Altos de Barahona, Páramos de Layna, Sabinares del Jalón, Quejigares de Gómara - Nágima, and Riberas del Río Duero and Afluentes. There is also an extensive list of lakes included in the Castilla y León Attraction Guide as Wetlands of Special Interest, with the goal of promoting their protection, and these include the Monteagudo de las Vicarías Dam and the Laguna de Judes.

Together with the natural diversity, a very rich historical and artistic heritage is easily observable in each of the towns in our region, including castles, fortified towers, watchtowers, walled enclosures, and churches.
