RIVERS

The waterways are characterized for being rich and constantly variable. They are associated with river bank vegetation which is found all along the river, also providing shelter for several bird species. Here we can find species such as the Little Grebe, Common Moorhen, Little Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, Kingfisher, Sand Martin, Grey Wagtail or the White-throated Dipper.

In the larger waterways, the vegetation becomes gallery forests, combining a variety of species, such as elms, populus, Alamos, willows and alders. This variety, together with the river's own richness, attracts numerous species of small passerines. Besides, the presence of fish attracts fish-eating birds, such as the Great Cormorant, Little Egret, Grey Heron and the Osprey.
