Justification for our participation in the TRINO project

The diverse climates and landscapes that we find in the area in which the Montaña de Riaño Local Action Group operates makes the area a special setting for enjoying its numerous natural resources.

Furthermore, this territory forms part of the Special Protection Area for Birds (ZEPA, from the Spanish acronym) which enables both the different existing bird species and their habitats to be conserved, and this allows eagles, woodpeckers, owls, Egyptian vultures, and other species to be easily observed among the groves and rocks of Picos de Europa Park; species that live in rivers and swamps, such as cormorants, gulls, herons and ducks, can also be observed.

All of this, together with the possibility of spotting other types of wild animals such as wolves, bears, chamois and deer, as well as other activities like trail hiking, fishing, and hunting, contribute to the creation of tourism packages that involve businesses across the entire area and at the same time generate economic activity in the region.
