Justification for our participation in the TRINO project
The POEDA Local Action Group’s territory covers an area of 8.036 ha classified as a ZEPA (Special Protection Area for Birds, from the Spanish acronym) and 806 ha classified as an LIC (Site of Community Interest). The birds that live in this area are a natural and tourism resource that must be appreciated, promoting nature tourism and making birdwatching a sustainable activity.
In order to do so, it is necessary to make the involved groups aware of the possibilities of using birds as a natural resource that is able to generate nature tourism.
This project aims to foster cooperation among involved groups to improve the conservation of species and create new sources of income by pushing for coordination among actors and groups involved at the regional and local levels, in addition to improving environmental training and education in rural areas.
Objectives also include creating jobs directly or indirectly related to birdwatching, advancing the process of diversification of income coming from this tourism activity, and other related activities.
Participation in this project, together with other Local Action Groups, will allow POEDA to participate and support the structuring of regional birdwatching activities for tourists, ensuring the conservation of the species and encouraging the use of natural resources while safeguarding sustainability and economic and social growth in these rural areas.
