MACOVALL 2000

The Association for the Overall Development of the Commonwealths of the Valles de Benavente Region (MACOVALL 2000) began its activity in 2000 because of the initiative of four commonwealths that include parts of the region, with the support of professional farming organisations, banking entities, cooperatives, trade businesses and individuals, among others.

The association was formed as a Local Action Group with the goal of driving internal and sustained development in the Valles de Benavente Region by diversifying its economic activities, acquiring the abilities necessary for the application of a rural development strategy.

With this goal, the association requested a PRODERCAL programme to make the region more dynamic, understanding that development rests on two fundamental pillars: the creation of jobs in rural areas and the improvement of services available to the population.

The association currently manages a new programme in the area in which it works: LEADERCAL, the fourth Community Initiative for Rural Development for the 2007-2013 period.
