CEDER Valle del Tiétar

The Valle del Tiétar Rural Development Centre is a non-profit organisation that was formed in 1995 upon the initiative of a group of people (representatives of the region’s municipalities) worried about the future of the area and convinced of the importance of initiating a process of development in that area.

The association’s principal objective is to spur internal and sustained development through assistance and investment aimed at diversifying the economy of rural areas, especially farming activities, and creating jobs in very rural regions that have unfavourable socioeconomic conditions and suffer from depopulation.

Using increases in income and quality of life in rural areas, the goal is to slow down emigration away from rural areas, consolidating basic economic activities in the area and developing overall management in the area that protects the rural environment and thus avoids deterioration caused by depopulation.
