ROUTE DESCRIPTION

The route goes through the valley of River Curueño and one of its tributaries, starting from Ranedo de Curueño and finishing at Nocedo de Curueño, passing by Valdepiélago and Montuerto, all of them belonging to the municipality of Valdepiélago.

The path starts in Ranedo, following the course of the River Curueño, one of the most beautiful and wild rivers in the province of León, passing through Valdepiélago. After crossing the medieval bridge, it goes onto the Roman road, enjoying spectacular views of the limestone peaks in the surrounding areas. Just before reaching Montuerto, it is worth going into the valley of the stream of Valderones on a beautiful path where it is possible to hear and see Robins, Nightingales, Blue Tits and Cuckoos, amongst other birds.

Between Montuerto and Nocedo the Roman road leaves the course of the river to ascend to the peak of Prendada. From this point, we can see different birds of prey such as the Common Kestrel, Golden Eagle, Egyptian Vulture, Griffon Vulture or the Eurasian Eagle-owl.
