ROUTE DESCRIPTIONThis route goes from Melque de Cercos to Laguna Rodrigo, passing through the municipal district of Hoyuelos. It is a linear route across areas of cereal cultivation, with riverside vegetation and an area of lagoons and ponds south of Laguna Rodrigo. A wide track starts from the church in Melque de Cercos, and follows the riverside vegetation that borders the stream through cultivated fields where it is easy to observe Crested Larks, Wheatears, Corn Buntings and Shrikes. Near Hoyuelos the track moves closer to the course of the stream, passing under Poplars with bushes, here we are accompanied by the incessant movement of Nightingales, Buntings, and Typical Warblers amongst other species. The route finishes at the lagoon of Laguna Rodrigo, which is at its best for the visitor after rain, when it fills up totally, providing a resting and feeding ground for many aquatic birds, such as Black-winged Stilts, Mallards and Grey Herons.
