ROUTE DESCRIPTION

This route connects the municipalities of Cuenca de Campos and Villabaruz de Campos, it passes through the cultivations of the rural district of Tierra de Campos, in the heart of an area that has been declared the La Nava-Campos Sur Special Protection Area for Birds.

The wide concentration tracks and the flat or gently rolling relief make this an easy route, both on foot or by bicycle, and it is also indicated with direction signs and interpretation panels. The wide open cereal plains, almost totally deforested, provide the opportunity to observe the Common Kestrel, the Lesser Kestrel, Montagu’s Harrier, Marsh Harrier, Black Kite and Red Kite on the wing. With a little more patience one can also see species of international importance like the Great Bustard and Little Bustard.

Finally, one should remember to visit the Lesser Kestrel viewpoint situated on a tower on a peak to the north of Cuenca de Campos.
