ROUTE DESCRIPTIONThis circular route starts in the small hamlet of Obécuri and passes through that of Bajauri, both of which are situated in the very south-east of the municipality of Condado de Treviño. Through gentle undulating countryside, pretty pathways lead to one of the best protected deciduous woods in the Province of Burgos, formed by Beeches and Pyrenean Oaks, a landscape which will enchant any visitor, with nature, and with the grandeur of woodlands. Passing along the pathways of this route it is not uncommon to come across mammals such as Roe Deer, Wild Boar and Foxes, there are also different species of birds of prey like Honey Buzzards, Goshawks, or Sparrowhawks, as well as Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Short-toed Treecreepers, Eurasian Bullfinches, and Eurasian Nuthatches. However, the most typical feature of these woods is the resident population of Middle Spotted Woodpeckers, which is one of the most important on the Iberian Peninsula.
