Description

The route starts in the Navalcó recreation area and does a circular tour through Monte de Dueñas. Holm and gall oaks dominate the landscape with a very varied related scrubland primarily made up of herbs, which means that in spring you can enjoy the scented aromas of thyme, lavender, sage and rosemary.

Monte de Dueñas is populated by a great number of birds. Some of the larger ones include birds of prey, such as the goshawk or sparrowhark, which can be seen flying between the trees, swerving in pursuit of prey.

In spring and summer it is common to hear the song of the hoopoe or the cooing of turtledoves and wood pigeons. Amidst the grove you can watch typical woodland birds, such as the mistle thrush, great spotted woodpecker, woodlark, common chaffinch, European greenfinch, great tit and blue tit.

Halfway through the tour a monumental stone construction appears which should not be missed: the Chozo de la Cabañona. Its origin is unknown, but it is believed to have been built by shepherds for use as a shelter.
