ROUTE DESCRIPTIONThe route starts and finishes in Cantagallo, a village of Celtiberian origin in the south of the province of Salamanca. Very close by, at 1,615 metres in height, is Peña Negra. It is a linear route which is marked. Starting from the road that passes through Cantagallo, it heads north-west, the opposite direction from the track that climbs Peña Negra. Descending a track marked with numerous Oaks, the route then turns to the right along a path between walls of rock, where the riverside vegetation grows profusely due to the waters of the Perucho. Whilst enjoying the tranquillity of the riverside woodland, one can hear the song of Nightingales, Eurasian Siskins, Tree Warblers or Turtle Doves. Continuing downwards towards the Cuerpo de Hombre River, the countryside opens up into an area of meadows dotted with Ash trees. Finally we cross the river to reach the Roman road of the Vía de la Plata. GAL: ADRISS Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip.
